Oxford's First Climate Action Week

Picture
We are delighted to co-host Oxford’s first Climate Action Week, a jam-packed programme of exciting events happening in 4th week. You can find the full and up-to-date schedule for the week at the bottom of this page!

The responsibility for tackling climate change falls on the shoulders of our generation. We know we’ve got what it takes – the vision, the creativity, the commitment – but to address the challenge, we need to work together in collaboration and solidarity.
To this end, Oxford Climate Society, Oxford Climate Justice Campaign, the SU, Oxford Sustainability, Waste Society and the Oxford Hub have come together to organise a diverse and thought-provoking range of workshops and discussions. We want to involve as many people as possible in the conversation, so we’ll be co-hosting events with societies outside of the environmental sphere, including Oxford Migrant Solidarity, the Oxford Forum for International Development and Oxford’s political parties.

One of the central themes of the week will be the role that the university can play in promoting change. We want Oxford to be a world-leader in climate action – to harness its resources and academic excellence in the pursuit of a better and more just future. On Monday, we present ‘Scale Up Oxford’, an interactive discussion about how the university can live up to this ambition, in areas from climate education to divestment.
We believe that climate action is important at every level, from lifestyle to legislation. We have the opportunity to make a difference through our individual actions, our political decisions, our activism and our careers. Climate Action Week includes events across all of these dimensions, from a zero-waste workshop to a Q&A about climate careers.
We can’t wait to see you in 4th week!
