Decarbonise Oxford

Decarbonise Oxford is our student-run campaign to decarbonise the colleges, as they are not bound to the university's sustainability strategy.

This term the campaign is back with an improved structure, with better support for campaign members: Students at Oxford who join the campaign will be put into 'working groups' to focus on a specific area to decarbonise, and be paired with a member of The Oxford Climate Alumni Network. So, students will get support from other students in their working group, the wider Decarbonise Oxford campaign, and a net zero expert!

The campaign's goals:
  • Targets - Every college develops carbon and biodiversity targets which at least align them with the University targets.
  • Implementation - Colleges develop a sustainability plan for achieving the carbon targets.
  • Transparency - Once the strategy is in place, the college sets up annual reporting of target progress (including carbon emissions).
  • Personnel - Every college has at least a designated sustainability fellow and a sustainability working group.
