Want to be more involved in climate action at oxford? Join the decarbonise oxford campaign!
We are looking for Oxford students to represent their college in our new campaign Decarbonise Oxford. Colleges should be setting targets for carbon reduction and sustainability which are at least as ambitious as the University targets. We believe students can play a pivotal role in getting their colleges to respond to the climate emergency through demanding transparent sustainability plans and targets.
We know student lives are busy, so being a college rep can make a big difference without being a big time commitment. If you're interested in taking part fill out the application here and join the decarbonise oxford facebook group to get the latest update and information.
Check out the introductory workshop to get your college campaign going. Find all the materials you need here.
How does it work?
The OCS action team will provide you with all the materials you need to campaign for sustainable action at your college as well as advice on how to navigate the college system and get a sustainability plan in front of the relevant people at your college.
Link up with other environmentally minded members at your college including the decarbonise oxford network and the environmental representatives.
To get the ball rolling on the campaign you will need to present and pass a motion to your student common room showing that the student body support the college decarbonising!
Once the motion has passed with you can start lobbying for ambitious carbon and biodiversity targets with the help of the common room president and the environmental representative. Start by sending this letter to the relevant authorities in your college.
