Decarbonising Transportation: The Future on Our Roads
OCS’s third week event, at the Oxford Hub, from 7.15-8.30pm on Monday 23rd October (3rd Week).
What is the future of our roads? Join OCS's expert panel to discover what needs to happen if we are to decarbonise our transport sector and what technology will make low carbon mobility possible.
Do private cars have a future? Will we be travelling in electric self-driving Ubers? Or will we entirely rethink the way we move around our cities, prioritising cycling and / or mass public transport systems?
With Oxford announcing a ban on all petrol and diesel vehicles in the city centre by 2035, how does this compare with what we need to be doing to meet our climate targets? Speakers:
Dr Tim Schwanen - Director, Transport Studies Unit, University of Oxford. Mike Thompson - Head of Carbon Budgets, Committee on Climate Change. James Arbib - Co-founder, RethinkX & co-author, Rethinking Transportation 2020-2030.
The event will be held in the Oxford Hub events space (up the stairs at Turl Street Kitchen, first door on the left), starting at 7.15pm on Monday 23rd October.
