Help us Make a Difference - Support Our Mission To Develop the Next Generation of Informed Climate Leaders
We are committed to developing the next generation of informed climate leaders. To achieve this goal, we host weekly events with distinguished speakers on a wide variety of issues covering climate science, economics, politics and solutions. Our events usually reach the maximum capacity of the venues we use, and we welcomed 180 people at our best attended event yet (read through our past events here). We publish a biannual Journal, a Magazine, and run a Blog where we publish articles from students throughout the University. And that's not all - we also run a seminar series, the Oxford School of Climate Change, offering in-depth climate education, and plan to continue to expand our activities in coming years. We regularly reach over 1,500 people online and are one of the biggest societies at the University of Oxford, with a clear focus on finding climate solutions and placing the importance of this issue on the agenda of the University and current students.

All these activities are organised and run by our student committee, and we do not accept funding from institutions or businesses whose activities and plans are not compatible with the goals of the Paris Agreement. We are also committed to making our events accessible to all, and thus do not charge any entrance fees. However, being one of the major student societies at the University of Oxford can be costly at times, and your support can make an invaluable difference in ensuring that we can continue to be as effective and have as great an impact as we do.

Here are just some examples of what your support will enable us to do:
  • Run our weekly events by supporting venue costs, travel reimbursements for speakers, and similar
  • Publish our Magazine and Journal
  • Promote the Society at Fairs and Online
  • Maintain our website
By donating £10, for example, you'd enable us to print ten copies of our Journal. By donating £25, you'd allow us to invite a speaker who is coming from London and pay their travel costs. By donating £50, you'd make it possible for us to attend one day of the Oxford University Freshers' Fair.

We know that climate change is the defining issue of our time - yet, if it would not be for our work, many of the University's students might leave University having never engaged with the subject. We provide opportunities for all of the University's students irrespective of their academic background: Undergraduates, postgraduates, and fellows, physical and social scientists. Your support would make a difference in many ways, and we've just outlined some of them - if you'd like to know more, or have any questions, please email us!

"Being one of the University of Oxford’s largest and best attended student societies carries a cost. With your help, we can continue to educate the climate leaders of the future, and to take meaningful action in Oxford." - Rupert Stuart-Smith, President 2017-18
