The Events Director leads the work in managing, organising and running the weekly OCS events. This involves researching topics and speakers, communicating with speakers, creating events posters, events promotion, and logistical planning and management of the events themselves.
Due to Covid-19, OCS events have moved online for the foreseeable future, enabling us to host leaders in the climate change field from all around the world! So this is a great role if you enjoy engaging with world leading experts and activists! We are always looking to further develop and diversify our range of event themes and formats, so this role also gives you many opportunities to realise your own ideas.
Given the unprecedented situation, this role will involve working very closely with the President and Vice-President to both shape and manage the events in their new online format.
We are looking for someone who can dedicate significant time and energy to this role. The ideal skills we are looking for are:

- Strong organisational skills, particularly in managing communications and logistics of multiple events
- Excellent communication and writing skills in contacting speakers and writing event descriptions
- Great events promotion skills - creating and managing facebook and eventbrite events, sharing events through OCS networks, increasing the global reach of our events
- Good speaking ability - opportunities to moderate live events
- Basic design skills to make events posters, some Canva experience is desirable (look at past OCS events posters for reference)
- Ability to work very well in a team towards a collective goal, and ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances. Things often change last minute!
