The Oxford Climate Society is a University of Oxford society dedicated to developing informed climate leaders.

Our membership extends from students to professionals and the general public, welcoming all levels of interest and experience.

We connect like-minded individuals, educate the climate leaders of the future, take action on emission reductions in Oxford, and provide platforms for academic and artistic engagement with climate change through our publications.

What we do:

  • Organise free, weekly events with world-leading speakers on the biggest issues in climate science, politics, economics, campaigning and more. View our upcoming events here.
  • Organise The Oxford School of Climate Change, an eight-week seminar series designed for all those who care deeply about preventing climate breakdown and finding answers to the most pressing questions in climate policy and science.
  • Organise our Student Research Showcase, where students from all disciplines and academic stages can exhibit or speak about an environmental project that they have been involved with, followed by a drinks reception in our exhibition space.
  • Publish Anthroposphere: The Oxford Climate Journal, biannually.
  • Publish two degrees, the OCS Zine.
  • Run a popular blog, featuring contributions from students across the University.
  • Campaign for concrete action to reduce the University’s contribution to climate change, including through the University of Oxford Carbon Innovation Programme.

LEARN

We publicise one talk per week during term time, covering all aspects of climate science and policy. This is usually followed by a trip to the pub to discuss.

CONNECT

Doom and gloom climate change doesn't mean we're not allowed to have a good time! We host movie screenings, pub golf, joint socials with other clubs and other events.

ACT

We organise group trips to climate marches and find fun ways to engage with the public and spread the message. We also host careers evenings to hear from insiders about what climate related roles are available.

Get involved by signing-up to our weekly mail-list and then come to one of our events!
